In 2008 I didn’t get much knitting done. Over the course of 12 months I finished only eight projects. And so, when 2009 dawned, I was committed to doing better. I decided that this would be my craftiest year ever, and that I would renew my commitment to all things yarny.
2009 has now come and gone, and I decided to tally up the year’s knitting. And in the process, I discovered that I tied 2008′s completed project count exactly. Eight projects finished. Not exactly what I was hoping for. But they’re pretty all the same, right?
- Jacob’s mittens
- Christmas socks
- Hannah’s mittens
- Fern glad hat
- Silk scarf
- Chunky sweater
- Baby dress
- Improvised pointy hat
So now I’m pretty sure that my knitting goal for 2010 will be 6 projects. Aiming low might just be the way to go here, what do you think?

Yeah, but a few of those 8 are major projects! They are all beautiful–you should be proud. That pointy hat is CUTE!

I love the phrase “All things yarny.” Great projects!
I’ve been seeing really cute crochet animals (amurigurimi) that makes me tempted to start a new craft, but I keep telling myself to stick to sewing until there’s more time.

I agree with Jenny. I may have a couple more projects completed, but they’re all hats and bags not sweaters and dresses! I love the idea of posting what you’ve completed for the year.

I’m in awe. I love the lacy hat, and I so impressed that you knitted a sweater for yourself! I guess it’s not the number of projects, but what they are, really!

I am REALLY impressed!!

Amber, I SO admire your knitting skills. My mother knits but I never had the patience for it. Great projects!
Look, ANYTHING that has the right number of arms/fingers/head holes is a MAJOR accomplishment in my book. And to Lady M — anything called amurigurimi is something one HAS to try, don’t you think? Just to have the privilege of using the word in a sentence, if for no other reason.

What about all those adorable sewing projects? They count too y’know!

Since I don’t know how to knit at all, I think 8 completed projects is pretty great! Your crafty skills have me in awe.

As someone who doesn’t knit, I am incredibly impressed. I’ve considered trying to learn to knit…maybe someday I will!

Such lovely knitting! You should have a great feeling of accomplishment!
Those are all pretty fabulous – I’d be happy with eight projects!! I think I knit 4 or 5 baby blankets this year, but that was it . . . I really need to branch out more. The fern glad hat is gorgeous – and I love the sweater, it’s beautiful.
