The Windows Are Going

This morning we’re getting all our windows ripped out and putting in new sealed vinyl units. Really looking forward to having the curtains not ripple when the windows are closed. Here’s a pic of what used to be the back sliding glass door. Can’t wait

Fun with Water

Here’s our evening tonight with Hannah. We learn something new everyday…

Beautiful Day in Victoria

I got up this morning and took a trip to Sidney by the Sea, which is the small town near the Victoria ferry terminal. I was drawn by the many bookstores, which market themselves together as Sidney Booktown. The little town is beautiful and leads right down to the oceanfront pier. Of note was the heavy senior population, the only place I saw kids was at this one breakfast restaurant that seemed very popular. Walking back to the car, I passed the local real estate office. Oceanview 2 bedroom condos were over $450,000. It’s getting a little crazy.

Here are some pics taken with the cameraphone…

On the Road Again

Hello everyone, haven’t posted here for awhile, just wanted to say hello.

I’m coming to you this week from Victoria, the site of the Pan Pacific Swimming Championships at the Commonwealth Games pool. It’s quite a nice facility, two 50 meter pools, and a wave pool with a pirate ship and a very cool waterslide. I’m here working for NBC, rejoining them after the Stanley Cup Final in Edmonton. It’s fun to do these kinds of events, but it’s very hard to be away from Hannah and Amber. Now that Hannah is big enough to know who I am and wave goodbye at the door, it makes it that much harder. So in honor of our daily trips to the park, here is a trip that we recently took in the rain. Hannah will never let a little bit of bad weather get in the way of “outside!”

The Potty has Arrived

Today Amber and Hannah came home with a beautiful Baby Bjorn potty. Hannah enjoyed pushing it around, sitting on it, using it as a step stool to grab things off the counter, and most importantly as a place to read a book.

Pretty soon we’ll be able to have this scene in our house. My Japanese isn’t the best, but it’s very inspiring all the same.

Somebody’s Getting Married!

James&Sara

It happened last week in Anaheim on a trip to Disneyland. Brother James had bought the ring, snuck it past an enquiring customs officer, and set the stage at a nice restaurant with a table for two. Luckily for him (and for us), Sara said yes. The news waitied until they got back from California. All of us in the Strocel Family are so excited for both of them. Congratulations!

Little Climber

Look what someone learned how to do today. I was only gone for the afternoon, and look what happens :)

Game 4

We’re just finishing up here in Edmonton for Game 4. Unfortunately for Oiler fans, the game didn’t go their way. But the building was rocking, our show went pretty well. Overall it was a great experience to work on the big show. There’s a special electricity at the Stanley Cup Finals, and it’s something I’m really glad to have had the chance to experience. Now I want to go home and play with my baby. Goodnight for now.

Game 3 in the Books

I’m in the midst of the celebration here in Edmonton, crowds of people are still celebrating the big Game 3 win. It was an excellent game, and the broadcast came off very well. Hopefully they don’t riot too much around here tonight.

The building here in Edmonton was absolutely electric. I’ve been to a number of playoff games in Vancouver, but I don’t think I’ve seen anything that compared to the intensity of the crowd here tonight. Very cool to be a part of it.

Stanley Cup Finals

Through the wonder of Wi-Fi, I’m posting from the truck compound in Edmonton at the Stanley Cup Finals. I got a call on Monday from NBC to be one of the 7 EVS operators that are going to be on the show tonight.

If you’re watching the NBC show, I’m doing replays on Cameras 8 & 22. Which are the reverse robo over the penalty boxes, and the high reverse. There are a ton of trucks out here in a very large compound. Under the stands inside all around the bowl are media work areas, interview places, reporters running around. It’s going to be quite the circus for Game 3. Enjoy the game tonight!
