Yesterday, while I was working and my seven-year-old Hannah was at school, three-year-old Jacob got a hold of my camera. It kept him entertained, so I decided it would be fine to let him play with the technology. He walked around our house, snapping away. After every shot he paused to examine the image, and solemnly declared, “I got it.”
So, what did he get? What does a three-year-old photographer capture? I submit a few images for your consideration:
1. My torso.

5. Cat’s tail.
6. Cat, sitting.
7. Cat on a wander.
8. Cat, eating.
9. Little hands holding a camera, reflected in a mirror.

LOL! i have a folder full of cat portraits taken from similar angles alongside a bunch of dramatic european art house scenes-on-a-diagonal. there are also a lot of mum-on-the-computer … and that’s when I tried to cut down on my screen time while the Wee Guy was home (not always easy; there’s always work that has to be done)

Oh yeah! I have saved a couple artsy shots Maizie took when she was about 3 but most the others I delete. She takes photos before anyone else wakes up in the morning. I am always having to delete pictures just so there is room for photos I want to take!

My kids take photos all the time on my phone. And some really lovely videos: me muttering to myself or scolding someone in the background. They also love to photograph their toys. All of these masterpieces get dumped into a folder called “Kid Photos”…
