The rains abated here somewhat in the second half of January, and the kids and I have been outside. It has made a huge improvement to our collective sanity, I must say. A little bit of weak winter sunshine and a chance to play on the swings will cure what ails you, especially if what ails you is being totally sick of being cooped up inside. I was feeling so full of energy that I even tried tree-climbing for the first time in decades. I am happy to report that I’ve still got it!
Here are some scenes from our recent adventures. Sadly, I couldn’t persuade Hannah to get a photo of my tree-climbing, so you’ll have to take my mad skills on faith.

I hope that you’re finding some sanity in the bleak midwinter, too. The days are getting longer and the bleakness will soon be past.

Green grass and weeds?! In Ontario we’ll have to wait another three months for those lovely things. I’m glad you are enjoying the repreive from the rain.
the “bouquet” made me chuckle.
I am LOVING this mild weather! No scraping windshields, no salt on the roads! Telling the kids to go ride their bikes — IN JANUARY! Wet and green as far as the eye can see.
I do hope, for our BC economy’s sake, that we get a good dump of snow FAST on the Olympic grounds! But it can stay there and no bother us on the Island please. (Mt. Washington — about 2.5 hours from here — apparently has the best snow conditions in the world today!)

Still resolutely bleak and mid-winterish here. Actually it’s my mind that’s frozen — I took a little walk this morning and it was not too cold and a little snowy. I just need some sleep and a back-up parent, and things will be looking up.

My husband and I have on many occasions toyed with a move to the west coast. We simply love it out there. We’ve come close once or twice but chickended out. The point is, I can’t decide whether the rain there or the snow we get here is worse. One thing I will say, I would certainly love to be rid of snowsuits. They exhaust me and make each morning almost insurmountable. It was refreshing to see pictures of your kids enjoying the outside. I’m envious!

You’ve been having good times! I love that bouquet, and the fun that Ming Ming looks to be having.
I’ll have you know the good weather in these (general) parts is all due to my mom’s visiting. Wherever she goes on vacation, sunny skies are sure to follow. This is a fact. Sadly, she is leaving tomorrow, so soak it up while you can.
