Mo-Mo-Movember

My husband Jon has decided to participate in Movember this year. Basically, throughout the month of November men grow their moustaches to raise awareness for prostate cancer. 1 in 6 Canadian men will develop the disease in their lifetime, and 25,500 men will be diagnosed this year. Many more will not be diagnosed because they do not get regular check-ups.

This video explains a little bit more about Movember (if you are viewing this post via email or in a reader you may need to click through to the site to see it):

Jon’s moustache is coming along nicely. He started it one day late, but he’s going strong. Well, except for the couple of times he’s almost shaved it off by accident. But that just gives him a delightful, quirky sort of look. If you’re curious, here are a few photos of the mo in progress. Or, if you want to keep up-to-date, you can check out Jon’s Mo on Flickr.

And, of course, if you want to join the fight you can contribute to Prostate Cancer Canada, or the organization affiliated with Movember in your country, and help change the face of men’s health!

As for me, I am finding the moustache less irritating than I expected. In fact, I think it’s kind of cute. But we also have an agreement that when Movember is over, so is the mo. ;)
