My first two were just about done being worn around 2.5 years except for the occasional frame back pack trip. Number 3 is just over 2 and is worn less and less. At 2, my kids ranged from 24 to 30+ lbs. I didn't find weight much of a factor at that age but they all became too long for me to carry comfortably.

I am just writing a post for this week on my baby carrier... I found ya by doing some online searches for babywearing/carriers.
I have had a hard time finding one that fits me comfortably, but I LOVE to carry my baby. I don't do it as often as I should/want to b/c I do get tired (I have scoliosis) but it is so fun and snuggly! I'm going to have to read more of your blog to see what you suggest for carriers or tips, etc. Nice to have run across your blog!

My daughter was 22 pounds (exclusively breastfed) at six months old. I'm a petite 5'2", so I really couldn't carry her around like that past four months. After that, on my hip for short distances. I still carry her around on my hip at age three and a half. Luckily she's slowed down since and is only (only???) 37 pounds. Indeed, count yourself lucky.

Ava was a little over 2.5 years. I was 7 months pregnant and it was getting uncomfortable to tie the wrap above the belly. Under it I hated.

Peyton lived in carriers for several months but I rarely wear her these days and she isn't even 2. I think I stopped doing it regularly after she started to walk at 13 months and wanted to chase after big sister instead.

I wore a sling as a permanent accessory until my son was about 3 1/2 or so. It didn't work for me until he was about 6 mos. but from then on, I was never without it. He never rode in grocery carts, and we traveled without a stroller most of the time. As he got bigger and heavier, it was great to have the extra support of the sling.

Its funny. I never get more comments from strangers than when I am wearing my baby in public. I say wear him as long as the two of you are comfortable with it!!

We still carry our daughter (14 months) a lot. Especially when out and about (she's never been in a stroller) and when she really wants to be held and dinner needs to be prepared.

I'll be sad when the baby wearing is over, but I guess we carried our son occasionally till he was almost 3, so maybe we've got a while left.

I like your charm, what's that website name again:)?
He looks very cozy snuggled up against his mom! I never used baby carriers much beyond the newborn stage, I found that indoors they were good only if I was on the go all the time (and I have a small house), and I stopped using them outdoors the day I slipped and fell on top of my baby (we do have a steep and nasty little walk up to the house, but by 18 months of age they could all walk it up and down)!

This topic makes me sad. :( I loved carrying my babes and now my littlest is 21 months and pretty much done. Last time she was sick a couple of weeks ago I got away with sneaking her back into the ergo for about 20 minutes. I loved it and so did she. But on average, she doesn't want to be carried anymore, because she can walk just fine, thank you very much!

Jacob looks so happy, all cuddled up against your back. Buster is approaching 18 months and wants to walk most of the time. Now and again, he'll conceded that he's tired and say, "up! up!" When I hold him on my hip, he hangs onto my arm pretty well, but there's only so long I can hold a 25 pound baby with one arm!
