Welcome to the Carnival of Maternity Leave

Welcome to the Carnival of Maternity Leave! From now until August 15 I will be featuring contributions from other bloggers about maternity leave, paternity leave, parental leave and adoption leave. The carnival announcement details how to participate, but basically I’m looking for you to write a post sometime before August 10 and send me a link at amber[at]strocel[dot]com. Starting tomorrow I will highlight several carnival posts each day. I encourage you to visit all the participants to read more about their thoughts and experiences related to maternity leave, paternity leave, parental leave and adoption leave.

If you are participating I will be in touch with you directly to let you know when I will be featuring your post. Please include a comment in your post welcoming people to the carnival, and a link to http://www.strocel.com/maternity-leave. Here is an example you can use:

This post is part of the Carnival of Maternity Leave over at Strocel.com. Visit http://www.strocel.com/maternity-leave for more posts on maternity leave from August 3 – 15, 2009.

Also, feel free to use my super-cool button:

If you don’t have a blog of your own you can send your contribution to me and I will post it here.

In addition to the fame and the glory, I am assembling a maternity leave survival pack for one lucky participant. It includes:

  • An organic cotton baby blanket hand-sewn by yours truly.
  • A pair of one size fits most IKEA slippers for days spent around the house.
  • Some delicious chocolate.
  • Non-toxic baby care products.
  • A well-worn copy of Canadian Mother and Child from 1947, which is just a fascinating read if only to compare and contrast pregnancy and child-rearing advice.
  • Close up of the applique
