Monthly reviews are my favourite tradition. Here’s how it works – every month I come up with some things I learned. Then, I ask you all to join in with some recent revelations of your own. And we all learn and grow and what-not. Or at least share a laugh at our own expense, because some of these lessons are both hard-fought and funny. Sound good?
So, without further ado, here are some things that I learned in February.
Things I learned in February
1. I discovered what it’s like to have an 18-month-old and a 5-year-old. The verdict? Sort of crazy, but in the best possible way.
2. I learned that walks to nowhere are sometimes the best kind.
3. I found out the hard way that you should always schedule your pet’s veterinary appointments for a time when you won’t have to bring your children along.
4. I discovered, once again, that sprinkles really do make any cake better.
5. I found some peace and redemption when one of the articles that I submitted was declined. Here’s the thing – your work can be good, even if it isn’t the right fit for one particular venue. And no one else thinks badly of you for trying, and trying again, and not succeeding. Life is about making mistakes and learning from them, after all.
6. You need a shocking amount of documentation to register your child for kindergarten. And you will cry at least once on the outing, wondering where the time went and how your baby can possibly be going to kindergarten already.
7. I remembered that I am just not that good at solo parenting, as I did it for most evenings this month. I could probably become good at it if I needed to, but I’m glad that I don’t need to.
8. I discovered the joy of cinnamon bark.
9. I re-learned how suddenly the end of February creeps up on you. February is short, yo!
10. I saw communities come together, in the most inconvenient circumstances possible, just to glimpse the Olympic Torch. I felt awe-struck.
What about you? What did you learn in February? Please share!

I bet you learned to rock those moose antlers too!

I learned that although I haven’t yet had a period, 18 months postpartum, I’m actually quite normal! Yay! Slightly odd thing to write, I know, but I just wrote a blog post about it

I learned that I actually do get the winter “blah’s”. The brief period of sunshine this month really boosted my spirit.
I learned that no matter how much you spend on Security, you will FAIL!! Bwah ha ha haaaaa
And you saw what else I learned: getting up at 5am isn’t that hard and it seems that nail strengthening polishes have a lifespan

I learned more about the Greener world in my community and continue to learn what I can do to make a difference.

I learned that:
1. Labrythitis is just as bad the second-time around as the first.
2. Sprinkle doughnuts are just as popular with my kid as they were with me.
3. It doesn’t matter if my husband doesn’t want to celebrate his birthday because the kids do and really it’s all about them.
4. I am incapable of remembering to do my own month-end re-cap once again…You should do a link-up each month-end. It seems to be popular. And maybe you remembering would help me to remember.

We did our kindergarten paperwork in January, but I was astonished at how much there was, and how inefficient.
Love those red torchbearer’s mittens.

Oh this recap is such a good idea! Makes you realize that you really did learn something – whether it was valuable is of course suspect but I do believe that cinnamon bark qualifies as “valuable learning.” Oh … and now I’m not just afraid of toddlerdom: I’m now afraid of kindergarten.

I learned that I actually love the project of starting a new garden, the project that was dreading, the project that I got started ONLY because you pushed me into getting going and not just talking (vaguely) about it. Thanks!
PS why is it automatically linking to a post I wrote three days ago? Is it a sign of something wrong with my html or something?

Cute review, February really is a short one, specially when it feels like March for the most part.
Walks to no where are the best, they really are.
I hope your chard comes to life soon. Gripping on twitter, just gripping
Can’t wait to hear you see green, which I know you will, given it is about 12 degrees daily!
I love the photo of your sweet 5 year old pulling out her face.

I learned to just say “no” to my boss to protect my part time job from becoming a full time job paied as a part time!
I also learned to cope woth my first born strong reactions. I’m still learning about it, with my spirited 5 years old…
I learned that single parenting – even on time – sucks. Big time.
I learned that returning your 3 year old to bed from 6pm to 2am every 5 minutes is the biggest test of endurance any parent could ever face.
I learned that life is to short to eat cheap brand baked beans. Heinz all the way.
