What I’m Thankful For, 2009 Edition

Today is Thanksgiving Day here in Canada. It’s a time to eat pumpkin pie and cranberry sauce and turkey. Or maybe tofurkey if that’s your style. It’s a time to gather together with your family and friends, mark the harvest, and appreciate the bounty all around us. But mostly, it’s a time to count your blessings and remember what you’re truly thankful for. It’s, you know, a tradition.

I like a tradition as much as the next person. Maybe even more than the next person. And I don’t have any great ideas for other Thanksgiving-related blog posts, quite frankly. So here are some random things that I’ve been grateful for lately, in no particular order:

My knock-off clogs. They might be ugly as sin, but they are super comfortable and fabulous on the beach.
Feet in the sand

That all of my tires survived the logging road to Bamfield and back.
Tire in need of replacement

Finding the courage to dream again.
'Your dreams are worth pursuing'

Tools to contain my destructo-toddler.
Jacob on a rare trip in the stroller

In-laws with air conditioning and snack food.
Grannie has the best snacks

Hannah’s Finger Friends. Yes, they’re kind of bad news, but they make me laugh.
Hannah's 'Finger Friends'

The way that hair grows back.
New hairdo, second pass

New found skills.
He's got a shovel!

Trips to the beach.
4 generations crossing the street

What about you? What are you thankful for right now?

Happy Thanksgiving! Of course we won’t celebrate it here for another month, but I have a lot to be thankful for. Mostly, my baby that’s growing inside me. I have an ultrasound appointment this afternoon, and hopefully we’ll be able to find out if it’s a boy or a girl!

I’m also thankful for my husband, my family, health and happiness. We may not have pockets full of cash, but I’m pretty happy with the struggle right now.

Enjoy your harvest feast!!!

Happy Thanksgiving. I’m still on a roll with being thankful I don’t have Lynch Syndrome and therefore haven’t passed it on to my son. ’nuff said tho’ there’s a lot more which makes me happy (maybe next year when the euphoria wears off)

Well we are celebrating next weekend when all the family can be together, because what is Thanksgiving without family? Mostly I am thankful for knowing that we are all healthy and happy and that baby number two has spared me from morning sickness with this pregnancy just like the first one did! Thank goodness! I am also thankful for a wonderful hubby that works so hard to provide for our little family.

My kick-ass husband who brought me chicken soup and ginger ale as I languished on my sickbed (okay, I was reading in a cranky lump in my chair). My little girl who was playing Barbies at the top of her lungs (yes, one can play at the top of one’s lungs) down the hall in her room, periodically coming in saying “Mommy, me want huggie”, and my son, who scored his first goal of the season yesterday.

And dark chocolate with chili peppers. And books. And Glee.

Health.

Too many reminders lately that nothing else matter much when your loved ones are not in good health.

What a beautiful post. And Happy Thanksgiving to you! I’m thankful for heaters. I know that sounds silly. Just had to turn them on for the first time, which sure beats building and maintaining a fire or coal stove.
